Early decision for Everette Brown

North Carolina is once again home to a lot of the top talent on the Atlantic coast, and one of the best in the class of 2005 is defensive end/tight end Everette Brown. His offer list is growing, so expect to hear a lot more about him in the coming months.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect from Wilson (N.C.) Beddingfield runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds and has offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Kansas State, Penn State, North Carolina and several others.

"If I had to put together a list of five favorites I'd say North Carolina, Florida State, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Tennessee would be right up there," he said. "They've all offered me. You can throw Duke in there too. I really like different things about each of those schools.
"I could play in this part of the country, get a good education, and at some of the places compete for a national championship. I'll look at everything, and not just this or that when making my decision."
Duke was the first school to offer Brown, and the Devils, along with other schools, have been impressed with his success in the classroom. Qualifying won't be a problem.
"I've been surprised at how many offers I've received in only two or three months. A few months ago I was pretty much just sitting back on my hands and waiting to see where I'd have the opportunity to play. But now I've got all these possibilities, it's kind of overwhelming.
"It would be easy to procrastinate and say that I have plenty of time, but I don't want it to be a distraction. I'd like to make my decision in the next two or three months if I can, but I won't make a timetable."
