Eagles in on Louisiana speedster

LUTCHER, La. - He may not be the biggest player, but Lutcher, La. wide receiver/cornerback Juan Johnson will rip a team to shreds with his speed and quickness. One school has taken notice of his ability and is showing him lots of interest.
"Southern Miss is really the school that I am hearing from a lot," Johnson said. "They have not offered yet, but I hear from them all of the time and they keep a real close eye on me all the team.

The 5-foot-8, 176-pound Johnson runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, has a 235-pound bench press, 365-pound squat and a 32-inch vertical jump.
"My strength is my speed and quickness," Johnson said. "I'm not the biggest guy in the world so I have to use that to my advantage. I have real strong legs and I have good hands so I can catch out of the backfield."
Johnson's brother, Kenneth Johnson, played football for the Eagles, so needless to say he's familiar with the Golden Eagles program.
"I try to pattern my game after him," Johnson said. "He's got it all hands, speed, vision and strength. I am very familiar with the program there. I know a lot about the school, it is a good community and they took good care of their players up there."
As a junior Johnson caught 31 passes for 795 yards and four touchdowns. He is ranked as the No. 39 player in Louisiana by Rivals.com.
"I really like Southern Miss a lot, they would definitely be the school I'm looking at the hardest," Johnson said. "I feel comfortable with the coaches and the program and everything up there. It's not all that far from home and it is a good program."
