Eagles get some defensive help

The Boston College Eagles received some good news on Wednesday, news that will impact the future of their defense.
"Ryan committed to Boston College yesterday," said Mary Thompson, the mother of Akron (Ohio) Hoban defensive end Ryan Thompson. "You need to ask him the specifics, but I know he's excited."

Thompson, a 6-foot-4, 240-pounder with 4.8-second speed in the 40-yard dash, chose the Eagles over offers from Stanford, Maryland, Northwestern, Miami (Ohio) and others.
Thompson committed to BC head coach Tom O'Brien on an in-home visit on Wednesday. He is ranked as the No. 58 strong-side defensive end in the country and No. 42 in the Ohio Top 50.
