Saturday evening Geismar (La.) Dutchtown cornerback Coney Durr knew his college selection so he decided it was time to make his announcement. He would be a Minnesota Golden Gopher.
THE LATEST: Kansas State and Minnesota have been his favorites and on Saturday night, Durr decided it was time to end the suspense and announce his decision. He was a Minnesota Golden Gopher.
IN HIS WORDS: "I chose Minnesota because I felt like this was the best place for me to compete to play early, and also get put into a scheme that fits my talent the best. My relationship with coach Sawvel also played a huge role."
RIVALS' REACTION: The Golden Gophers have had an edge in Durr's recruiting process for some time now, but he was not quite ready to commit until Saturday. There was a feeling he would eventually end up a Gopher but now it is done and in the books. Tennessee and South Carolina kind of made things interesting there for a little bit, but in the end the Golden Gopher program and the relationships he had with the Minnesota staff proved too much to beat.
