Durante taking it slow

Charlotte (N.C.) Vance safety Dechane Durante is sitting on one scholarship from the Big Ten. The 6-foot-3, 191-pounder is taking things slow with the season about to kick off.
"Everything is about the same, I have one offer from Illinois," he said. "I am still getting letters from Duke. Hopefully this season picks up the recruiting process.

"Duke keeps writing me, telling me they want me to come to a game on an unofficial visit. I plan to go to one of their games, it's only an hour and a half away."
What's the three-star prospect's status with Illinois?
"I went up there one time and I kind of liked it," he said. "I haven't really been talking to my recruiter from there, but they will probably be back around during the season."
Does Durante like anybody?
"I only have one offer, so I like the school that offered me," he said. "That's where I'll end up going if no one else offers. We'll see, hopefully it picks up soon.
"I think I may decide in the next month or so if it doesn't pick up."
Durante and Vance had a bye this past week to open the season.
"I'm just trying to stay healthy and hopefully have a good senior season," he said. "I'm going to see the ball a lot more and our team looks good. We're more disciplined.
"I think I'll be all over the field. I'm faster and I'm just been working hard over the summer."
