Duke lands Rivals250 fullback

Duke has landed their first commitment from the Rivals 250 this recruiting season. The Blue Devils hauled in a verbal commitment from four-star fullback Brandon King out of Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks West. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder with 4.6-second speed chose Duke over offers from Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.
"I was at Duke today and yesterday and I decided to commit before I left," he said. "The coaches were kind of surprised that I did it in person, I felt like they didn't think I was ready for it. They were obviously really excited though."

In the end, King saw everything he wanted at Duke.
"I really like the atmosphere of the players and coaches down there," he said. "Everyone is working together to get better. I just like the attitude in which they're talking about how they're going to be. It seems like they have the right attitude to start winning and get back on track. I also liked the facilities, campus and everything there. The coaches are great too, I like coach Roof and the defensive coordinator. They told me how they'll use me and they were all really friendly."
Obviously an important factor in King's decision is academics after all he is a 3.5 GPA student.
"Life after football is going to be pretty good with a Duke diploma in my hand," he said. "It's a good thing to fall back on and that's important to me. I'm not sure what I'll major in yet, but I'm looking at marketing or business."
The fullback looks to see the field as soon as he steps on campus.
"They said I have a real good chance of playing early and they need someone like me really bad, so as soon as I get there I'm going to make an impact."
What kind of impact can fans hope he'll bring?
"I think I can bring a dual-threat," he said. "Instead of bringing in different guys for different packages, I can stay out there and do it all. I'm a versatile guy who can catch and block."
With a decision behind him, the No. 14 player in Pennsylvania can focus on the upcoming season.
"I'm really going to work on my blocking a lot this year to get ready for college," he said. "I'm also working on staying low and getting faster."
King has confirmed he is a solid commitment for the Blue Devils. He is hoping to at least attend a couple games this season.
"I'd like to see the Virginia Tech game and maybe the Georgia Tech game," he said. "I'm going to be watching them to see improvements from game to game. I want to see that they're getting better and hopefully winning some games and giving teams a good game."
The No. 2 fullback in the country had a final word to say to the Blue Devil faithful.
"I hope I can bring some wins to the football program and hopefully help my class and the classes to come to make Duke better."
King ran for 700 yards as a junior.
