Duke lands commitment from sleeper WR

One offer was all Nashville (Tenn.) Pearl-Cohn wide receiver Nick Hill needed. The talented prospect had been to several camps around the southeast this summer and the one campus that stood out the most to him was the one in Durham, N.C. When an offer arrived from Duke on Tuesday, Hill didn't need to wait any longer to make a commitment.
"I got an offer today from Duke and I gave them a verbal commitment," Hill said. "When I went up to their camp, I knew that I really liked it up there. They treated me real good. I just felt comfortable up there at Duke. I was waiting on that offer and I told coach that I would probably commit if they offered because I really liked it up there."

Specifically, Hill had a very positive reaction to his interaction with head coach David Cutcliffe. He also was drawn to the academic opportunities that Duke presents.
"I really like Coach Cutcliffe," he said. "He's a real honest guy and it felt like he wasn't just feeding me what I wanted to hear. It felt like he was being real with me and being honest. And Duke gives me the best chance academically and athletically."
Though Hill had yet to pick up an offer, he had received significant interest from Vanderbilt, MTSU, Memphis, Louisville, East Carolina and Western Kentucky. Though he was relieved and excited to make a commitment, Hill still has some obligations he has to fulfill.
"I still have to make sure my academics are right this year," he said. "I have to make all A's and B's and that's kind of a heavy load but I think I can do it."
Hill, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound physical prospect, has a talented team around him and he is also focused on leading his team to a deep run in 2010.
For the team, I'm hoping we cam make a push at state this year as long as we can stay disciplined and focused," he said. "I think we've got the talent as long as we can stay disciplined."
Hill becomes the fourth commitment for Duke out of the state of Tennessee.
