Duke gets LB help

The Duke Blue Devils have to be much pickier than many other schools when it comes to recruiting student athletes because of their outstanding academics. So when they find a player that impresses them on film and in camp and that player has good grades, they don't hesitate to offer. Their latest commitment is from a linebacker who took the offer and ended the recruiting process.
"I spoke to coach O'Brien and committed to Duke," said 6-foot-2, 206-pound linebacker prospect Andrew Holoman from Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge. "I went to their camp and they made me feel really welcome. The coaches talked to me and took time to get to know me and were straight forward. I liked that."

Holoman chose Duke over interest from Penn State, Georgia Tech, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Duke was his first offer.
"I wasn't about to wait around because Duke was the right fit," he said. "Penn State, Virginia and Georgia Tech all wanted to see more film but Duke didn't need to. They felt I was the right kind of player. I'm calling coach Roof Sunday to let him know as well but I already told coach O'Brien."
Holoman plays defensive end and tight end for his team, but will be a rush linebacker at Duke.
"They said I'd play some standing up and some with my hand down," said Holoman, who had 29 tackles and five sacks last season. "I prefer to get after the quarterback so I'm excited about it."
Holoman has a 3.1 GPA and a 1,020 (old score) on the SAT. He camped at Duke, Virginia, Penn State and Georgia Tech.
