Ducks land talented DB

West Covina, Calif., cornerback/wide receiver Walter Thurmond, III (5-11, 170, 4.4) had five offers on the table from Oregon, Boise State, Fresno State, Wyoming and San Diego State. It is no surprise that he committed to his longtime favorite school.
"Yes, I committed to (Oregon assistant) Coach (John) Neal," Thurmond said. "My highlight of the trip was seeing the campus and seeing the Oregon Ducks beat Oregon State in basketball."

In an earlier interview with Rivals.com Thurmond may have tipped his hand.
"Oregon has a great combination of track and football," Thurmond said. "If everything goes alright on my visit, I could commit."
The two-way standout racked up 85 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and five interceptions from his cornerback spot.
From his wide receiver position, Thurmond caught 29 receptions for 730 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 25.2 yards per catch.
The talented Mr. Thurmond also rushed the ball 25 times for approximately 400 yards and two touchdowns.
Thurmond is the type of football player that the Ducks used to make hay on during their glory years.
The athletic Thurmond could make Duck fans very happy in the very near future.
