Dual-threat on the rise

Lamel Matthews is a dual-threat quarterback that colleges are starting to take a hard look at.
In fact, Marshall and Temple have already offered.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback from Washington (D.C.) Dunbar is pleased with those two offers but he hopes he's not finished yet.
"Saturday I'm going to UVa for their spring game," Matthews said this week. "On (April) 28 I'm going to go to Marshall and I'm going to try to get to Boston College for an unofficial sometime."
Virginia's coaches haven't had much direct contact with Matthews yet but they have been speaking with his coach at Dunbar.
"My coaches have been talking to Coach (Shawn) Moore," he said. "They went down there (to UVa) this past weekend. Basically they want me to come down to see the campus. They want to get a look at me, too."
What does Matthews think of the Cavaliers?
"Oh it's definitely a great academic school," he responded. "That's first and foremost. It's also not that far from D.C. so distance wouldn't be a factor. It's a great school and (the football program) is on the rise."
Marshall, another school he will be visiting soon, has also impressed Matthews.
"I really like Marshall. I talk to them a lot. They have a nice offense. I can see myself in that offense. I really can't say too much about the school because I haven't been there yet. The coach recruiting me, Coach Long, sounds like a cool dude."
Last fall at Dunbar Matthews passed for 800 yards and 15 touchdowns in just six games.
