DT Monroe is gaining interest

Washington (D.C.) St. John's College defensive tackle Andre Monroe claims one scholarship at this time. However, plenty of other schools are looking at the 6-foot-1, 280-pounder.
"I have one offer from Maryland," he said. "I'm in touch with Pittsburgh and Duke. I'm also receiving letters from Michigan State, Northwestern, Boston College, Rutgers and Tennessee. New Mexico is very interested in me.

"I'm also already looking at camps. I'm planning to go to North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Duke and possibly Miami this summer."
Before all that, Monroe plans to take a trip at the end of the month to Louisville on the 28th.
Does the lineman like any schools?
"I really want to hear more from Miami and Virginia Tech," he stated. "I've liked Miami since I was little. I went down to Florida and I always compared going to Florida to what Miami was like.
"With Virginia Tech, I liked them when I was a little kid too. I liked their colors and mascot. Now that I'm older though, I'm looking deeper. However, both of them do play in the ACC and are all over the East Coast. That makes it not too hard for my parents to make all the games."
Monroe went on to discuss what he wants in a college.
"I just want a school I know I'll be comfortable at," he said. "I want it to be accessible for my family that's why I haven't been looking out west much. I want a school that has a good major in computers too. I'm thinking about doing graphic design or computer science."
Monroe posted a solid junior season in which he earned first team all-conference while registering 67 tackles, 22 for loss, one forced fumble, one recovery and 6.5 sacks.
