DT Favors Small Schools

Over the past few seasons, Raleigh (N.C.) Enloe has been known for putting out elite basketball talent. This year however, a defensive tackle for the football squad is getting a lot of attention from local schools, and he’s already piling up offers.
Christopher Tate, a 5-foot-11, 275-pound defensive tackle already has 10 offers, mostly from small schools, but three from ACC programs.

“Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Duke have offered me,” Tate said. “Wake Forest has to be recruiting me the hardest, so I’d have to say they may be my favorite. The schools I’m looking at the hardest are Wake Forest, James Madison, and Appalachian State.”
Tate camped at NC State this summer, and despite getting lots of attention from major in-state programs like NC State and North Carolina, Tate is attracted to the smaller school setting.
“All the schools I’m looking at have solid football programs and provide a good education,” Tate said. “They have smaller campuses, and I’m attracted to that.”
This year for Enloe, Tate will play offensive guard and defensive tackle. Primarily a star on defense, Tate is stout up the middle against the run. He bench presses 350-pounds, and combines that power with a 40-yard dash time of 4.9 seconds.
“My biggest asset is definitely my strength,” Tate said. “I’m working on my endurance, and that’s coming along really well. I don’t want to wait until the last minute to make my decision, so it may not be too far off.”
