IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“I decided to decommit from Oklahoma because of some health reasons with my family,” Green said. “It’s where my recruitment is at right now. Oklahoma is a still a major option for me because they still have coach Ruffin. Everybody knows I call him ‘Pop’ because he is like another father figure for me. I have to make sure I do what’s best for my family because they are a big part of what I’m doing. I’m reopening my recruitment to see everything that comes and I’ll weigh those options with my family.

“I talked to coach Scott from Georgia last night,” he said. “He was making sure my family was doing OK. He said he is going to be coming after me. Athens is a nice town, a nice place. It looks amazing there and football facilities are great. It’s a great place to be. The campus and the school have a lot to offer and they are ranked very high.

“I was supposed to go up to Tennessee for their junior day but I stayed here to play with my basketball team in the third round of the playoffs,” said Green. “I’ll find another date to get back up there. I’ll talk with coach Pruitt and coach Rocker. They really want me to come down to campus and we talk about where I would play on the defensive line.

“I have the offer from Virginia still,” he said. “I haven’t talked to the coaches there in a while but coach So’oto is a great dude.

“This weekend I’m going to Clemson this weekend,” Green said. “I’m also talking with coach Kool at Alabama to try to figure out when I’ll be able to get down there. I will still be visiting Oklahoma on April 13 and I’ll be going back to Georgia the next weekend for their spring game. Both of those will be official visits.”

RIVALS’ REACTION…

The Sooners have plenty of defensive tackle targets left on their board to overcome the loss of Green. He will look to schools closer to home as his recruitment unfolds. Georgia seems to be in the best shape right now but there are a lot of schools that could be offering over the next few weeks and months so Green’s recruitment still has plenty of twists and turns remaining.
