Three-star defensive tackle Tyson Chandler has scheduled three official visits. Where will the 6-foot-6, 344-pounder be headed in the next month and a half?
"I have set up a few officials," he said. "I'm going to NC State the weekend they play Miami (November 28th). I'm going to South Florida on December 5th and Temple I believe on December 12th."
Why does Chandler want to visit these schools?
"I want to go to NC State because of the coaching staff," he said. "I really like them. I haven't met Coach O'Brien yet, but I like my recruiter. I also talked to the offensive line coach. That's where they want to play me because I'm so big. That doesn't matter to me at all.
"With South Florida, I like Coach Hendrick. He's my recruiter and the defensive line coach. He seems like a really cool coach. Finally, I like Temple. They are a good academic school and close."
Obviously Chandler could take two more trips in the future, is that a consideration?
"I will probably go to Rutgers, I've been so many times though," he said. "I may go somewhere like New Mexico State too."
Is the No. 13 prospect in New Jersey considering a decision anytime soon?
"I was kind of ready to decide for NC State this summer, but I wanted to wait longer. There isn't a chance I'll commit on that visit.
"I want to go on these visits and see if I like the facilities and the coaching staffs. I don't want to feel like an odd ball. I want to feel at home."
Chandler continues to get consideration for offers by Rutgers and Connecticut, both schools still are waiting on SAT scores.
