Three-star defensive tackle Garrett Brown out of Fairfield (Conn.) Fairfield Prep is preparing for an unofficial visit to Maryland this weekend when they face West Virginia.
"Right now Maryland is very high on my list and they are also close, it's not a bad drive to go down there for a day," he said. "I actually want to just see Maryland win. I'd also like to talk to the coaches a couple players too."
The No. 12 player in New England is now planning to take his officials after the season.
"They'll most likely be after so that I can focus on everything with my team right now," he said. "I don't want to worry about missing practice and stuff. I'm not sure who will get officials yet, but I know Maryland will be one. That's my top school and I figure it'd be a good place to take an official."
Brown has received calls from a few schools since September 1st.
"Maryland, Michigan and Ole Miss called and they all just were informal talking about how I and they are getting ready for the season."
The No. 58 defensive tackle in the country kicks off the season this Friday against Notre Dame West Haven.
"We've had three scrimmages and they went well and each game we're getting better," he said. "I've done well and progressed. Through the three games I had four sacks and 17 tackles. This year I'm just looking to be the best captain I can be. I also want to be absolutely dominating and take my play to another level in my last year in high school."
Last season Brown was named all-area, all-SCC and second team all-state after recording 83 tackles, 35 for loss and 15 sacks.
