Drummond has been working the phones

If it were up to Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park defensive end Craig Drummond, all responsibilities related to recruiting would wait until after his senior season, but possessing the talent of a Top100 prospect is making that difficult to maintain.
Monday of this week brought about the first time since the Spring Evaluation Period when college coaches could phone recruits, and Drummond's number was dialed by members of several college staffs.

"Five minutes ago I got off the phone with Coach (Reggie) Mitchell from Illinois," Drummond reported. "He's a very good coach, is cool and is good to talk to. He talks to me about family, school and the team, but mostly about the school.
"Monday was on the phone with the coaches from Wisconsin and Tennessee. We just talked about the season, the school and when I am going to come down there."
Drummond spoke with offensive line coach Greg Adkins of Tennessee and assistant coach Randall McCray of Wisconsin. Each of the coaches inquired about him taking an official visit to their school, but the four-star prospect was not ready to commit himself to any dates.
"They asked (about officials), but I told them I don't know when," he said. "I'm going to wait until after the season."
The 6-5 260-pound Drummond is serious about waiting until after the season to focus on recruiting. He said there are no favorites and he has not begun the process of narrowing down his list of scholarship offers. He also did not make any unofficial visits to campuses over the summer, but when he does feel the time is right to evaluate schools, there are several factors he will consider.
"I'm looking at the education and the coaching staffs," Drummond said. "I want to see how the coaches are with the players and to sit down and talk with them about different things, things I need to work on.
On the education end of the spectrum, Drummond is interested in pursuing a Business degree, with a focus on Real Estate. He reported his GPA is at a 2.5 and he has scored a 22 on the ACT which makes him a full qualifier.
The senior season that Drummond has directed so much of his time and energy towards has not started out the way he had planned. Morgan Park opened the year last Saturday with a loss, but Drummond did not even get a chance to see the field.
"I didn't play because I sprained my ankle," Drummond reported. "It's still bothering me a little bit. It bothers me when I run, so I've been icing it."
The nation's No. 94 ranked prospect is looking to improve upon lofty numbers registered during his junior season that included 67 total tackles and 18 sacks.
