Downs has early frontrunners

Devante Downs has picked up a few early offers and the Lynnwood (Wash.) Mountlake Terrace 2014 prospect is hearing from many other programs.
Arizona State, Colorado State, Washington and Washington State have already offered the 6-foot-3, 235-pound recruit who mainly plays running back and he said two other programs mainly stand out early in his recruitment.

Michigan and USC are two frontrunners and Downs, who looked good last week at the Army National Combine in San Antonio, said he's especially getting lots of interest from the Wolverines.
"That would be really big because I've liked (Michigan) ever since they had Mike Hart," Downs said. "That would be a favorite. I like all the history they have.
"USC also stands out. They had Reggie Bush and I really like their offense."
Because of an outstanding junior season, Downs is also receiving interest from Oregon, Michigan State, Arizona, Oregon State and many others.
"There is a bunch," Downs said.
Oregon was showing the most interest prior to the bowl season and Michigan continues to stay involved with the big running back.
Downs said since his recruitment is just taking off he remains open to all programs and no decision will be made until he can take some official visits and see which teams stand out most.
"It was Oregon recruiting me the hardest before the bowl season," Downs said.
"Michigan sends me a letter every day and I called the coach and basically it's pretty soon I think before I get an offer from them. Basically, everyone is the same. Whenever I call them they're really interested.
"I'm going to take all my officials before I commit so I can weigh all my options and I don't commit too early."
