Downer is an emerging QB in Virginia

Virginia is loaded with quarterback talent in 2013 and one few are talking about is 6-foot-3, 210-pounder Kyle Downer. The Vienna (Va.) Oakton prospect is picking up interest from a variety of schools at this stage.
"I've gotten some good interest," he said. "I went down to Duke, Temple and Richmond last year for games. I'm getting a large amount of letters.

"Right now, it's a lot of we'll look to evaluate you more at summer camps and everything. I don't have a ton of film for them to see what I can do, so a lot are looking forward to next year."
Does Downer like anybody?
"I grew up a Virginia Tech fan, so I really like Virginia Tech," he said. "I liked the campus when I went down there last spring and they said they'll evaluate me further. But, I'm pretty open to other schools too. I'm just looking for a good fit for me."
On the field, Downer played wide receiver and quarterback this year earning second team all-district honors.
"I threw for 500-yards, rushed for 200 and had about 500 receiving," he said. "I definitely felt like I made a lot of improvements this year and helped my team out a lot more than I had previously.
"I think I showed my playmaking ability and whenever I touched the ball there was the possibility of a big play."
