Dowdy plans first game visit

Westerville (Ohio) South class of 2015 offensive tackle Rob Dowdy spent a portion of his summer visiting seven schools down south. His first fall game visit will not require as long of a drive.
"I am planning on going to Louisville Sept. 1," Dowdy said.

Louisville opens with Ohio University at home on Sunday when Dowdy plans to be in town. It is the only fall visit he has planned at this time.
The Cardinals were not on his summer tour of schools that took place late last month, but their in-state rival Kentucky was. His other stops on that trip were at Georgia Tech, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
When asked which experience at a school has particularly stuck with him in the weeks since that trip, Dowdy responded that it was the stop at Arkansas.
"[It was] just the family feeling," Dowdy said. "I really felt welcome."
The Razorbacks are one of eight schools that has already extended an offer to Dowdy. Georgia Tech and Kentucky have also offered among the schools he visited on his southern swing.
Whether he had an offer from a school or not, Dowdy the chance to visit each of those programs opened his eyes to schools outside of his immediate home region.
"[It did] a lot, actually," Dowdy said. "I was used to northern schools so it was good to see some southern schools."
The 6-foot-5, 277-pound Dowdy will open his junior campaign this Friday against Groveport-Madison.
"I'm very excited to start," Dowdy said. "I want to see how far I've come during the off-season."
