Dowdell loves the attention

Opelika, Ala., offensive lineman William Dowdell has suddenly found himself at the center of an intense recruiting battle, and he's loving every second of it.
"I never thought all of this would happen," said Dowdell, who has helped Opelika to an 8-1 record this season.

"But now that Auburn has offered, both them and LSU have been sending me more letters and calling me all the time. I think they're in a competition."
They are. And to the winner goes one of the state of Alabama's top sleeper offensive linemen.
"I like Auburn more right now," Dowdell said. "I like how they have treated me, but LSU offered me first, so I probably at least owe them an official visit."
So it looks like this battle is yet to be won, but give the early edge to Auburn.
"It might be a little unfair at this point," Dowdell said. "I need to see more about LSU, but Auburn has always been the local school for us."
Middle Tennessee, Texas Tech, Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee State are the other teams he is listing.
