Dougherty at nine offers

Aurora, Ohio lineman Patrick Dougherty picked up his first offer in February from Toledo. Since then, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Dougherty has added eight more offers and has interest from several more schools.
Of his nine scholarship offers, most are for the defensive side of the football, though Cincinnati and Ball State are looking at him as an offensive tackle.

"Most coaches like me on defense because they like my motor and my size," Dougherty said. "It's subject to change depending on which school I feel is the fit for me, but I prefer defense at this point. On defense, I am probably going to move inside to a three-technique."
Other offers have come in from Boston College, Indiana, Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo and Miami (Ohio). The offer from Boston College was one of his most recent.
"I got Boston College's offer early in May," Dougherty said. "I know the obvious stuff, like it is an ACC school and it is a very good school. I'm definitely interested in seeing what it is like and I probably will take a visit there during the summer."
Dougherty has also yet to visit Indiana's campus, but he is keeping in close contact with assistant coach Deland McCullough.
"He is the recruiter for my area, so we have been in communication a lot," Dougherty said. "My Chemistry teacher went there, so he's been telling me about it and how nice of a campus it is. He says all good things, obviously."
Dougherty said he will "definitely" attend Indiana's camp this summer, and is also looking to attend camps at Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Cincinnati. Other teams could be added to that list depending on how the Spring Evaluation Period finishes out for the Cleveland-area lineman.
"Pittsburgh has come to see me workout," Dougherty said. "Minnesota has come to my school a couple times. Michigan State - we're just now starting to talk."
Dougherty has been playing AAU basketball, but was still able to visit Cincinnati, Toledo, Ball State and Bowling Green during the spring.
