Dores, Eagles high on Miss. RBs list

Jackson (Miss.) Jim Hill all-purpose back Tony Miner says there are five schools at the top of his list coming out of the busy May recruiting period.
“The main ones I’m looking at – and the main ones who seem to be most interested in me – are Vanderbilt, Southern Miss, West Virginia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss,” he said. “Southern Miss has shown the most interest. I really like their coaching staff and the offense there. I plan to go down to their camp on June 28.

“Vanderbilt is the other one I’m really interested in right now. They’ve got one of the best engineering schools in the nation. It’s a very prestigious school, so I’m honored that they’re interested in me. Their running backs coach talked to me recently and told me they really need some running backs. They seem like they really want me.”
Georgia Tech, Memphis and Jackson State have also been involved in his recruitment.
Miner maintains a 4.14 GPA on a 5.0 scale. He has also scored an 18 on his first ACT attempt, making him an attractive prospect on a number of levels.
As a junior, Miner (5-9, 195, 4.5) rushed for 730 yards, had 300 yards receiving and accounted for 12 touchdowns. He’s also part of Jim Hill’s state champion 4x100 relay team.
He’ll attend the Louisiana Tech camp with his team and the Mississippi State camp this summer.
