Donovonn Young recently transferred from Humble High School to one of the area's top programs.
"My dad played at Katy and I've always dreamed of playing for the Tigers, he said. "It just all worked out and I'm here. I used to lay awake at night thinking of what it would be like wearing that uniform. I have very high goals for myself here and look forward to getting started."
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound back has been garnering attention from some of the nation's top programs. He just got back from the University of Texas' one-day camp and was happy with his performance.
"I thought I did pretty well and they are going to stay in touch," he said. "I'm just trying to make a name for myself here first, but the recruiting will come."
While Young was nicked up last season, he seems to be at full strength heading into the upcoming season.
"I had an ankle injury last season and now I'm feeling great," he said. "It was just a bad all-around year from injuries to family issues. Everything is straightened out and I'm really happy."
Young is a tremendous student with a high core grade-point-average and will be taking the standardized tests very soon.
