Don Bosco has two DL prospects in 2007

Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep is home to two defensive line prospects in the 2007 class in defensive tackle Greg Kafaf and defensive end Sam Griffin. Rivals talked to the Ironmen's assistant Nunzio Campanile to find out more on the two linemen prospects.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Griffin already holds a scholarship from Temple and is getting looks from a bunch of other schools.

"He's getting a lot of interest from the usual schools that look at our players including Boston College, Maryland, Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia, Syracuse and others," he said. "Sam isn't favoring anyone in particular at this time. I think he's still just hoping for more offers in the next couple months. A lot of teams still want to see him at camp to see what he is all about."
Last season Griffin played offensive tackle for the Ironmen earning first team all-league and third team all-county honors, but he's expected to make the move to defensive end in college.
"He is a great pass blocker and offensive tackle for us, but I believe he has the chance to be a very good end if someone gives him the chance," he said. "He reminds me a lot of Northwestern defensive end Corey Wootton who used to play here. I think he is actually a little more developed than Corey and has the ability to play a lot of positions. He is still a little thin too.
"As a player, he is a tough guy that is real aggressive. Sam has good feet and a great attitude out there. I truly believe you can't go wrong with him because he is a very good player."
The 6-foot-1, 260-pound tackle Kafaf is just beginning to pick up college interest.
"Only a few of the local schools have contacted us about him including Rutgers and Maryland so far," Campanile said. "Everyone is basically waiting to see how he does his senior year. He has a lot of potential, but just transferred to us last year from Depaul."
Kafaf is one of the strongest players on the team. What else makes him an interesting prospect?
"He is real strong and thick," he said. "Greg gets off the ball really well and is a good player for us, but we're not sure if he will be down the road for college. He is a great worker in the weight room, aggressive and tough. He also knows how to get his hands on people the right way."
Obviously the major downside for the lineman prospect is his height.
"Greg's dad is a big guy around 6-foot-3 and played for I believe Colgate, so he has the potential to still grow some more both in height and weight."
