Domiguez lineman has the tools

When Compton (Calif.) Dominguez assistant coach Martin French tells you that offensive lineman/defensive lineman Jamaal Burrell (6-5, 260, 5.3) will be the War Daddy from his school this season it has the same affect when E.F. Hutton has a stock tip. You listen.
When Burrell showed up to the Rival.com Five-star Academy last February, he sure passed the look test. It is obvious that others have been just impressed.

"Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson came by the school late in the recruiting process and saw Jamaal," Dominguez assistant coach Vada Boykins said. "USC defensive coordinator Nick Holt came by and said, 'who is that?' Everybody who come by the school has the same reaction."
"The thing is he plays as good as he looks," Boykins said. "Jamaal has a passion for the game. He takes pride in making that block that blows open a that makes the difference.
"Jamaal has a great work ethic and does whatever the coaches ask," Boykins said. "He loves to work out. We never have a problem with him missing a workout.
"Jamaal is even running track and he's 6-5, 260," Boykins said. "He's been working the 100-m and the 200-m just to get faster.
"He probably won't be running the two events during the meets, but he is throwing the shot," Boykins said. "He's already explosive off the football, but his track should help be even more explosive.
Burrell was one of a handful recruits invited to UCLA for a meet and great and were treated to an outstanding basketball between the hometown Bruins and the visiting Bears from Cal Berkeley.
"Jamaal loved it at UCLA," Boykins said. "It was the first time he has ever been on a college campus. He loved the atmosphere and the basketball game.
"UCLA is going to turn it around with Rick Neuheisel and Norm Chow," Boykins said. "There is a lot of buzz there. Jamaal enjoyed meeting the coaches, the atmosphere and the way he was treated."
Burrell is planning a busy spring and summer improving his skills as a football player. He is planning on going to the NIKE in Los Angeles or Palo Alto and is also looking forward to camping with UCLA, USC and ASU.
In the weight room, his current bench is 275, squat 420 and his vertical is 33-inches.
Burrell is also a solid student with a 3.4 GPA.
