No offers have come for Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt cornerback Mike Jones. However, the letters of interest are piling up for the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder.
"I've been getting letters from Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Virginia, Rutgers and Virginia Tech," he said. "Nobody has offered yet, but it sounds like I've got a couple waiting. All the schools are telling me to keep my grades up and they'll be in touch."
Most of the colleges appear to be hesitant with Jones since he's coming off an injury.
"I was hurt most of last year and only ran for 800 yards and 14 touchdowns," he said. "I did do well on defense still getting four interceptions and returning three kickoffs for touchdowns.
"In the first scrimmage of the year, I sprained my ankle. Then in the second game I pulled my quad and in the end only played in six games. I plan to go to the Nike Camp at Penn State later this spring to get more colleges interested."
Aside from the Nike Camp, this spring is expected to be a busy one for Jones.
"I'm planning to go to Notre Dame in the next week," he said. "I'm also going to the Penn State junior day in late March. I just want to go see the facilities and check out how the coaches are at those places."
Although he's a talented running back, the junior prospect is getting recruited for corner.
"My coach is telling me I'm going to get looks more for cornerback and that's fine," he said. "It doesn't matter to me that much where I play."
