Rivals250 linebacker Chris McCain hasn't officially claimed a top five. However, the 6-foot-7, 203-pounder has a few schools that have caught his eye in recent weeks.
"May has been going good," he said. "A few coaches really impressed me that I've been able to talk to. Coach Hull from Maryland, Coach McCartney from Wake Forest, Coach Jackson from Syracuse and Coach Thigpen from Auburn. Those are the real ones that stick out.
"I liked Coach McCartney from Wake because he always finds a way to give me information and I talk to him almost daily. The school is only 30 minutes from my house which is good.
"Maryland's Hull is a good guy. I went there for a spring game and it was pretty fun. I have family up in Maryland, a cousin there. I also know Danny O'Brien who is committed there. I've played against him and he's real cool.
"Coach Thigpen used to be at North Carolina and I've stayed in touch with him now that he's at Auburn. As for Coach Jackson from Syracuse, I'm always in touch with him too.
"I forgot to add Coach Lupoi from California. He's young and just like one of us. He is cool to talk to."
Of the list, Auburn and California haven't offered, but McCain believes both plan to in the near future.
Summer visits are coming for McCain. Where is he going?
"I'm going to Alabama's camp, Syracuse, Maryland, Tennessee and Wake Forest. Those are five I know so far. I really want to go out west too to visit Oregon and California. I'm not sure after that."
In the meantime, the four-star prospect is working to cut his list down.
"I wouldn't say I have a top five yet, but I'm starting to narrow stuff down."
