Doerings ready for the playoffs

Barrington (Ill.) five-star offensive tackle prospect Dan Doering (6-foot-6, 290 pounds) finished his regular season last Friday with a loss to conference rival Conant, yet Doering is ready for the start of the IHSA state football playoffs this weekend. Doering and the Broncos will face Warren (7-2) in first round Class 8A action.
"I know Dan was disappointed with the loss last Friday against Conant," Rick Doering, Dan's father said. "I also know that last night when the playoff pairings were announced, Dan and the kids on the team were in a much better mood. I know Dan has been playing his heart out this year, and even though I'm his Dad I'm also a pretty hard critic for him as well."

The elder Doering fills us in on his son's latest recruiting news.
"Dan still has three official visits set (Iowa, Notre Dame and Nebraska) and he's still trying to decide on which schools he'll set his last two visits with between Ohio State, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma and Tennessee. As far as official dates left, Danny will basically take a look at that once the playoffs are over with and he won't take any official or unofficial visits until after the season is completed. We're obviously hoping that his season will go on for about 5 more weeks."
White the volume of phone calls have slowed, Rick Doering adds that the consistency of calls to his son haven't slowed at all.
"Dan is still getting weekly calls from the head coaches at Ohio State, Notre Dame. Iowa, Miami (Fla.), Tennessee, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Some nights it will be pretty quiet, then some nights it seems they all call Danny at the same time."
