DL standout returns from Cal

One the hottest prospects on the West Coast returned from one of the hottest schools on the recruiting trail this season. Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw defensive tackle Brandon Mebane (6-1, 260, 4.7) took his first official trip this past weekend to Cal.
“It was fine and I like it a lot,” Mebane said. “I’m not going to commit anywhere until I sign on February 5th.”

“Cal is up and coming and new,” Mebane said. “Berkeley is different from L.A. I liked the Cal coaching staff.”
Cal has already set up an in-house visit with Mebane and his family in December.
Mebane’s next two official visits will be up to the northwest when he will visit Washington on December 13th and Oregon on January 17th.
“I am very open regarding my two official visits,” Mebane said. “I would like to get an offer to visit from Oklahoma and Miami.”
Mebane is still very interested in the two local schools UCLA and USC. He is planning on taking unofficial visits to both USC and UCLA. “I know them both pretty good so I want to save my official trips for out of town.”
Mebane and his Crenshaw teammates were bounced from the playoffs in tight loss to Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax 13-12 last Thursday evening.
Mebane had a tremendous senior season racking 18 sacks while fighting through double and triple teams all season.
