A few weeks ago, Siale Liku and some other 2019 prospects visited Cal and the Oakland, Calif., defensive tackle had a memorable time.

So far, the Golden Bears have been showing the most involvement with Liku and his visit to Berkeley only helped Cal’s chances early in his recruitment.

“The relationship with the coaches (stood out),” Liku said. “It's like we were already close. It was nothing but joy. My parents even loved the fact that in the football locker rooms, they have someone who will always do laundry and a barber who cuts anyone's hair.

“The fact that Cal had everything from doctors who check up on the athletes to a chef that cooks for you and from like a personal mentor to help you one-on-one to the fact that you don't have to go off the campus because everything is within the campus.”

So far, the 6-foot-3, 311-pound three-star prospect has been offered by Cal, Colorado, New Mexico and San Jose State.

But there’s no question Cal has definitely piqued his interest early on. It’s early but the Golden Bears could be tough to beat.

“Also, what really got to me was when the coaches reminded me that on game days it's different when you have your family there and you get to hug them after the games but when you’re away you have to call and check and it doesn't feel right because you’re so far,” Liku said.
