DL Howard looking to impress early

By his own admission Columbia, Md. defensive end/tackle David Howard was not having a very good game this past weekend for his Springbrook High School team in their game against Blair.
Luckily for Howard the game was suspended Friday night in the second quarter and resumed Saturday afternoon with Springbrook leading 7-0.

“To be honest I wasn’t playing that well,” Howard said. “So I was looking at (the suspension) as an opportunity to do better.”
It is important to the 6-foot-3, 259-pounder to make an impact in each game he plays this season as he puts together his senior year film that will be sent out to prospective schools.
“I’m trying to get it out as soon as possible,” the nation’s No. 37 strongside defensive end said. “I have been making copies of it and I’ll start to set up my visits after they get it.”
Howard has shuffled his top schools a bit and says Boston College, Northwestern, Maryland and Virginia make up his top four now.
“Northwestern has a good program with good academics,” said Howard. “I met some players and the coaches when I went to camp there. I really just had nothing bad to say about it.”
“I really like BC too and depth-wise they need defensive linemen, so I could see an increase in playing time,” Howard said. “It’s also a good program and I like its location. It’s around a lot of other schools.”
As for Maryland, Howard likes the coaches.
“I really like Dave Sollazzo, their defensive line coach,” said Howard of their d-line coach. “I can picture myself playing under him.”
And Virginia?
“Again I like the defensive line coach Mike London and the whole atmosphere,” said Howard. “It’s not too hot or too cold and it’s not very far away from home either.”
