DL Hames bursting onto the scene

Over the past week or two Channing Hames has been one of the hottest names in college football recruiting. The defensive end from Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell has picked up seven offers fairly quickly.
"The first one was Old Dominion and the next one was Virginia," said the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Hames. "I really enjoyed going down to Charlottesville. I got to talk to Andrew Brown, one of the top players in the country, and I got his perspective on the school and how he likes it. That was great.

"I definitely enjoyed watching the defensive line practice," he said. "I got to meet the defensive line coach and talk with him. I learned about the defense they run. I also got to meet coach London for the first time. I thought it was a really good conversation.
"Boston College offered me next," Hames said. "I don't know too much about them yet. We want to visit up there. We've talked with them a little bit but really looking forward to going up there.
"The next offer was from West Virginia," he said. "I haven't visited there either. I talked to coach Galloway a couple times. He seems like a really cool guy and it's good to know him."
Marshall, Charlotte and Connecticut have also offer Hames. Only a couple schools have hosted Hames but more will in the future.
"I've only done two visits," said Hames. "I've been to Maryland and Virginia. I'm hoping to visit all of them."
Two more offers could be on their way soon for Hames.
"I talked to my coach at Maryland and they said the offer is on the way soon," he said. "I'm excited to get an offer from them. I visited two weeks ago.
"I hoping Virginia Tech offers soon," Hames said. "I talked to coach Bud Foster and he invited me to their junior day. He told me where he sees me fitting in on the team and they love my film."
Hames is planning on attending the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Washington D.C.
