Dixon staying open

Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance safety Dana Dixon was one of the standout players from Michigan that made the trek to Columbus for Friday's NIKE Training Camp. And Dixon, who is 6-foot-3 and 178 pounds, said he had a good day. But he's also had a good spring with schools from all over the region recruiting him hard.
Dixon already has scholarship offers from Northwestern, Miami of Ohio, Louisville, and he recently added a new offer to his resume.

"I got one from Akron on Friday or Thursday of last week," he said. "I am supposed to talk to their coaches soon."
But make no mistake about it, Dixon said he would really like to get a chance to stay in-state and play at Michigan State. But he said it's not the biggest deal in the world to stay at home.
"I heard from them about three-weeks ago," Dixon said. "Coach Dan Enos stopped up to talk to my coach. If I could stay in the Midwest I would like to. Only reason I would have more favoritism towards Michigan State is because I hear from them. I have had no contact with Michigan. I went to Michigan State's Spring Game with Chris Norman this year."
Dixon said he plans to check out a few places this summer.
"I definitely plan to visit the schools that have offered me," he said. "I really want to go to Northwestern. I want to see Michigan State, obviously. And I have seen Michigan just not all the football stuff yet. I want to see Ohio State, too."
Of the offers he has now, Dixon said he's not leaning toward one over the other.
"I like both Louisville and Northwestern equally," he said. "I like the attention I get from both of them. They talk to me the most. I talked to Louisville Monday, and I talk to Northwestern all the time. Louisville is offering me for safety. The other teams like me at receiver.. I would like to play both. If I had a choice it would be wide receiver I like offense more."
