Dixon de-commits from Tennessee, so what's next for the Georgia RB?

On Saturday afternoon, Butler (Ga.) Taylor County running back Lyn-J Dixon announced he was de-committing from Tennessee and opening his recruitment back up.

This news was not shocking. Dixon committed to the Vols June 24th, so he stayed committed for three and a half months, but there have been other schools working to get his mind off the school that is based in Knoxville (Ala.).

Alabama is one. Clemson, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech are some of the others who have not stopped recruiting Dixon.

He put the news out publicly of his de-commitment Saturday, but he's been thinking about it hard for a few weeks now.

"It really got going when I started hearing about possible coaching changes at Tennessee," said Dixon.

"I started to really think about de-committing at that time and I decided after their loss Saturday to go ahead and do it."

That loss was a tough one. Tennessee fell to South Carolina 15-9 and they had a chance to win from the two-yard line on the final play of the game.

Dixon has not eliminated Tennessee and he said the Vols are "still" in this race. He now plans to slow things down and check out some other options before making his final decision.

"My plan is to take visits and see what school best fits me. I want to make my final decision sometime in January, so I am going to take my time with it."

There are no visits scheduled yet for the No. 12-ranked all-purpose back in the country. He was not ready to go on a record about a new leader yet either.

There has been chatter about Clemson making a big move for Dixon, and when asked if the Tigers were on top, Dixon said, "I can't answer that right now."
