Diwun Black: From Starkville to Oxford to The Swamp

Diwun Black is the No. 6 prospect in Mississippi and the No. 156 prospect in the country.

He is an extremely talented athlete out Forest High and he has lined up all of the field in high school. He has spent time at quarterback, safety and everywhere in between outside of the trenches, so the 6-foot-4, 230 pound senior is coveted for his athleticism and upside.

Being from Mississippi, he's expected to stay home, and attend Mississippi State or Ole Miss.

Well, he has been committed to each, but now, after spending the weekend in Gainesville (Fla.), he is committed to the Florida Gators.

Black first committed to Mississippi State in September 2017 when Dan Mullen was the head coach in Starkville. . He stayed with the Bulldogs until March 4, when he re-opened his recruitment.

After just over a month of being back on the market as an uncommitted four-star prospect, Black committed to Ole Miss.

From April 7 to today, August 2, Black was on the Rebels commitment list.

He has always been in contact with Mullen and Gator assistant coach, Greg Knox, who came with Mullen from Mississippi State.

After visited The Swamp over the weekend for Friday Night Lights, Black has flipped to the Gators and re-committed to Mullen.

"I told coach Mullen about my decision at Friday Night Lights. He was pumped up. He said he was feeling like it was game day," said Black with a laugh.

It was Black's first time at Florida and he had his mother with him. She knows Mullen well too and she is happy with her son's decision.

"I felt good down there. I am not going to lie. My mom had a blast too. She hung out with coach Mullen's wife and had a great time with here.

"We didn't want to leave."

Being his third commitment in less than a year, Black is going to be questioned about what is different about this commitment compared to the first two.

He said, "This is my final decision. I am done. I am not a bulldog or a land shark, I am a gator. That is what's different about this commitment."

Florida is recruiting Black to play outside linebacker.
