DImperio breaks it down

Long Island (N.Y.) Nassau C.C. defensive end Hugh D'Imperio finished up his season not too long ago. The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder is now looking at recruiting and may have found out some key information that will have a bearing on his decision.
"The season went well," he said. "We finished 7-3. We had a real strong finish. I'm just hoping to get my name out there.

"I finished on the year pretty well. I averaged about 10 tackles a game. I also had six or seven sacks on the year and one interception. I had a lot of fumble recoveries, six or seven and two forced fumbles."
Has the solid year opened up doors for D'Imperio?
"I talked to some coaches and most of them are still worried about my eligibility," he said. "A lot of them are concerned I only have one year to play Division I football, so that may mean I have to go play Division II in order to play two years.
"I'm still trying to see if I can get that extra year from Michigan State. When I went there, I played the first three games and then got hurt. I was supposed to get a medical redshirt. But then, I got in trouble there and I never got the shirt. With the new coaching staff and NCAA, I'm trying to get it worked out."
In regards to recruiting, who's looking?
"My coaches are mostly handling it and they've been talking to Marshall and Rutgers," he said. "Until this eligibility things gets cleared up, I'll be going Division II. I've love to play Division I, but I don't want to miss out on the opportunity to play. I know I'll need more than one year to get bigger and stronger to be capable of playing at the next level."
