Diggs checks out Virginia schools

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel wide receiver Stefon Diggs is one of only 12 five-star prospects in the country as ranked by Rivals.com. As a result, everything he does becomes newsworthy from camps to visits. The 6-foot-1, 189-pounder took two unofficial visits this past week when he visiting Virginia on Thursday and Virginia Tech on Saturday. How did the visits compare?

Virginia was his first trip as Diggs looked around and met with coaches on Thursday.

"Both visits were really good," said Diggs, who has offers from more than 20 different programs around the country. "At UVa I felt really comfortable with the coaching staff and felt a connection between me and the staff, especially the head coach. He's a real passionate guy who takes football and winning games seriously just like me. So I feel it would be a great place to attend and also I have potential of playing early there. I plan on taking another visit"

His next visit was to Virginia Tech for the Hokies spring game.

"Virginia Tech was a good visit, I had a conversation with the head coach and the game it showed me a lot. Their starting quarterback has potential to be great, he looked good to me with a nice, strong arm. Their receiving core looks strong, they have tall receivers who will be gone when I get there so there's a good chance to get some early time. So overall the visit went well."

Diggs will keep both schools in mind as he narrows his list down to 15 programs sometime this summer. Next up is a visit to Miami and then late spring or early summer visits to Florida State, Florida, Maryland and others.

"I want to see each of the Florida schools separately so I can focus on each one," he said. "Then I'd like to get out west to see Cal, USC and maybe some others as well. I want to spend a lot of time this summer visiting schools."
