Did New England safety commit

East Providence, R.I. safety James Silva received the offer from the program he was waiting on last week. Did his official visit to the same school seal the deal?

“I committed to Boston College,” said the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder, who also had offers from Indiana, Penn and New Hampshire among others. “I pretty much knew last week when the offered me, but I wanted to take my official visit to make sure. I had a great time on my visit and it was everything I expected it to be.”

Silva earned his offer with a terrific summer camp at BC and a stellar senior season in which he made more than 2,000 yards rushing and more than 100 tackles on defense. He is the second BC commitment from Rhode Island in the last two years. One-time Rivals100 member Will Blackmon signed with BC last year.
