Long Island (N.Y.) North Babylon running back Jason Gwaltney is the subject of commitment rumors following his official visit to Southern Cal this past weekend. Other recruits on the visit said Gwaltney is a Trojan. Is it true?
"No, I didn't commit," said the 6-foot-0, 234-pounder. "I really loved it out there though, it was great. I'm still a soft commitment to West Virginia, but USC has moved ahead of Ohio State as the team I'd pick if I were to change my mind."
Gwaltney loved everything from the weather to the players.
"I was hosted by Alex Holmes and I met with Reggie Bush and LenDale White about their future plans. They pretty much told me I could come in for a year, learn under the best and then take over for them once they leave early. I also liked the weather out there a lot, it was beautiful."
Gwaltney committed to West Virginia very early in the process and still has an official visit set with the Mountaineers for Jan. 7. This upcoming weekend he'll be at Michigan State.
"Southern Cal gave me a lot to think about," he said. "I still plan on making my announcement at the U.S. Army All-American Game on Jan. 15. The decision just got harder after this weekend."
