Commitment or no commitment?
Offer or no offer?

Questions abound after Decatur (Ga.) defensive tackle Frank Morton announced a commitment to Ohio State late last week.
“I went up there and had a great time for four days,” said the Southwest Dekalb standout. “I got to meet coach (Jim) Tressel and the rest of the staff. I got to see a bunch of their players around there, too. I loved the people and the atmosphere, so I decided to give them a commitment before I came home.”
But will it be a commitment the Buckeyes are ready to take? Rivals sources say, while Ohio State has interest in Morton, an official scholarship has yet to be issued.
Regardless of how that situation plays out, it’s clear Morton has high interest in the Big Ten school.
“I’m still going to go on my visits and see some other places, but I don’t see anybody matching it,” he said. “It’s not even close right now.”
Morton (6-4, 280, 4.85) has camped at Auburn, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Ohio State this spring and summer. He’s also received interest from Arkansas, Georgia, Louisville, North Carolina, N.C. State, Minnesota, Oklahoma State and Virginia.
Auburn, Ohio State, Maryland, Louisville, North Carolina, Minnesota, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech are the schools he says have offered.
Another school could enter the picture if he had his wish.
“Florida State was always my dream school,” he said. “But I haven’t had enough interest from them to match these other schools so far. I’ll wait and see.”
Southwest Dekalb coach Buck Godfrey said more than 40 schools visited Morton this spring, many leaving indications of scholarship offers. He describes Morton as a dominant player who can change the complexion of games.
“Frank’s a guy who commands so much attention, he can really disrupt what the offense is trying to do,” he said. “He’s the best defensive lineman we’ve had here in about 12 years.
“He’s an explosive player. He’s got great quickness for such a big, powerful kid. He runs between a 4.8 and a 4.9. He’s also got a good head on his shoulders, a lot of football savvy.”
Another bonus with Morton is he’s already qualified with a 2.9 GPA and a solid score on the SAT.
“He can just have fun and enjoy his senior year now,” said Godfrey, who also acknowledged the Ohio State commitment.
