Dickey staying busy

With his official visit to Notre Dame already behind him, and his trips to Southern Cal, Miami and Georgia Tech on his schedule, Gavin Dickey of Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln only has a couple more things to do.
One is to win a state championship, and the other is to figure out the fifth school that he plans to visit.

There’s a big hurdle that Dickey, a 6-foot, 190-pound quarterback, and Lincoln must climb this week if they want to be state champs. Lincoln plays Lake City in the third round of the state playoffs. The two teams have already met earlier this year Lincoln escaping with a 24-22 victory.
As for the fifth school on his college list, there are several possibilities, as well as two new entries into the race.
Alabama and Florida are both possibilities now, along with Clemson, Maryland and Syracuse.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do yet (about the fifth visit),” Dickey said. “I’m just leaving it open to see if there’s anything I see that I might want to take. I’d say Alabama and Florida are coming on pretty strong for it, but I just haven’t decided anything yet.”
Dickey visited Notre Dame on Oct. 19 and despite the rumblings that Bob Davie may lose his job, he says the Irish remain in the picture. He is also slated to visit Georgia Tech on Dec. 14, Miami on Jan. 18 and USC on Jan. 25.
Dickey claims no leader among his choices and says he is willing to stay close to home or go away for college.
Dickey, a Rivals100 member, is one of the nation’s best dual-threat quarterbacks and a viable candidate for Rivals.com National Player of the Year honors with his outstanding season.
In 12 games this season, he has passed for 2,147 yards and 24 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. He has rushed for 920 yards and nine touchdowns on just 96 carries.
