Dewalt taking methodical approach

To say Bowling Green (Ky.) Warren Central wide receiver Lonnell Dewalt is taking a methodical approach to his recruitment may be the understatement of the season to this point.
Only days away from the new year, the three-star wideout says he’s yet to schedule any of his official visits.

“Things are pretty much the same,” Dewalt said. “It’s the same schools I’ve always had – Kentucky, Louisville, Auburn, Michigan, West Virginia… some of those schools, a few others. There haven’t been any big changes.”
When can fans expect to see some visits for the 6-foot-7, 215-pound star?
“I’m not sure,” he said. “Probably in January, I guess. I know I’ll visit Kentucky and Louisville when I get a chance.”
Dewalt also plays for the Warren Central basketball team, so his schedule is usually packed on the weekends.
The Wildcats and Cardinals are thought to be the leaders in his recruitment, although he doesn’t publicly claim them. Auburn is also in the mix, but seemingly more from the basketball standpoint.
Asked what he liked about the in-state schools, Dewalt said: “I like Louisville’s passing game. They have an NFL style. I like the way they use their wide receivers and spread the ball around. Coach Brohm is recruiting me, and they’ll probably end up getting his little brother (four-star Louisville Trinity signal caller Brian Brohm). He’s supposed to be a great quarterback. It would be cool to play with him, but then again, everybody’s got good quarterbacks. That really isn’t as big a deal to me as how I fit in with the coaches and the rest of the team.
“I like what Kentucky’s been doing, getting a lot of good players coming in. I think their new coaches are going to turn them in the right direction. They have a couple of wide receivers leaving and need somebody to come in and step up. They told me I could help them a lot.”
As a senior, Dewalt caught 43 passes for 851 yards and 10 touchdowns to earn first-team all-state honors.
