Devlin decides

Just a day after fellow Eastern Pennsylvania quarterback Jeremy Ricker made his decision, Exton (Pa.) Downington East signal-caller Pat Devlin has made his decision, bringing the recruiting process to a close for all three of the Rivals100 quarterbacks from the area to a close. What school did Devlin choose?
"I committed to Miami," said the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder. "Miami just had the right combination of everything I wanted - coaches, football, academics."

Devlin chose Miami over Virginia, Michigan, NC State and Pitt. In the end it came down to two schools.
"Virginia was right there with Miami, but I just felt the opportunity for everything was a little better at Miami," he said. "I like coach (Mike) Groh a lot and Virginia is a great place. Miami just had it all."
Devlin said that academics played a key role.
"I guess you could say I was curious when I went down there about the academics because Virginia and Michigan have great academic reputations," he said. "But Miami is right there. There was a great lady by the name of EllenMarie McPhillip who is the administrator of the School of Business there and she came to work on her birthday pretty much to talk to me and tell me about things. That really impressed me that she would take time out like that for one student."
Devlin is ranked as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the country and the No. 90 player overall. As a junior he threw for more than 2,200 yards and 21 touchdowns.
In the end, the opportunity at Miami was too much to pass on.
"It's hard to explain,"he said. "It was a feeling. I expected to wait until August and decide but I was so sure of Miami I just didn't feel I needed to wait. There was no point dragging things out anymore."
Devlin joins Ricker (Maryland) and Zach Frazer (Notre Dame) on the committed list now. All three quarterbacks from Eastern Pennsylvania are in the Rivals100.
