Devils go down to Georgia - again

Catron Gainey is a 6-foot-1 ½, 196-pound hard-hitting safety from Hephzibah, Ga. He camped several places this summer – including stops at Auburn, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech and Duke. It was at his final stop at Duke that produced his first scholarship offer and a commitment for the Blue Devils.
"I committed to Duke last night," Gainey said.

"I can't pass up on an opportunity to get a great education and play in the ACC. They played 13 freshmen last season, so there is a good chance that I could play early. It was the perfect situation for me. I had to take it."
Gainey said he was recruited by linebacker coach Brad Sherrod, and he enjoyed his recruiting pitch.
"He was really cool," Gainey said. "He was really down to earth and easy to talk to. That helped me out a lot when it came time to make a decision."
So what type of player is Duke getting?
"I like to hit hard, come up and make the tackle and read the quarterback's eyes," Gainey said. "I'm the king of the field out there. I like being out there at safety and seeing the whole field and controlling what happens."
As a junior, Gainey had 85 tackles and interceptions.
