Two of the newer schools to the list of Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview tight end Marc Winston are making a strong push for his services.

“Since the last time we talked, I had Duke come on real hard and fast,” he said. “I wound up taking an official visit down there on the 5th. I had a great time down there. The campus was real nice, and the academics there speak for themselves. It’s a great school.
“I also like their new coach, coach Ruth, and the type of offense they’re going to be running again next year. They used a lot of two-tight end sets and sometimes used three at a time, using them in the slot. All their tight ends were involved in the offense and wound up in their receiving leaders. As a tight end myself, that’s hard to ignore.”
Winston’s host for the weekend was fellow tight end Ben Patrick.
“I felt good around those guys,” he said. “They made me feel like part of the team.”
Winston (6-7, 235, 4.7) caught 28 passes for approximately 600 yards and two touchdowns as a senior. He also registered six sacks as a defensive end.
His current top four includes the Blue Devils, Stanford (1/9), Florida (1/16) and Arkansas (1/23). He’s taken a long look at the Cardinal and Razorbacks this season, but the Gators are making a late charge.
“Coach Dixon offered me a scholarship not too long ago, and I’ve got a chance to talk with him and coach Zook quite a bit,” Winston said. “They’re really high on my list. I like the situation with the depth chart. Early playing time would be nice. I also like the way they use their tight ends. I watched Ben Troupe a lot this year. He was great.”
Arkansas and Stanford are expected to make in-home visits this week. Florida has also indicated it will be coming back to Little Rock.
Winston is rated the No. 23 tight end in the nation by Rivals.com.
