Dever talks about his decision

The last time we spoke with Grass Valley (Calif.) Nevada Union offensive lineman Taylor Dever, just a week ago, he was glowing about his recent official visit to Notre Dame. Dever said he wanted to visit Nebraska before making his decision but as it turned out, he never made it out to Lincoln.
"I actually committed last Thursday," Dever said. "I loved my visit to Notre Dame and the more I thought about it and contemplated everything, the more I realized that no place was going to be better for me than Notre Dame. I wanted to commit but I just felt like there was something holding me back.

"When Coach Polian came over last Thursday for the home visit, that's what put them over the top. It really wasn't anything he said, it was just seeing him there and talking about Notre Dame, that's when I realized that I was ready to do it and committed there on the spot.
"I didn't visit Nebraska because I didn't want to waste their time when I knew what I wanted to do. Basically my whole life, I wanted to go to Notre Dame. It's funny looking back a few months, when the offers started to roll in, one of my coaches said, 'this is what you wanted,' and I said, 'yeah, what I really want is an offer from Notre Dame.'
"A few weeks later, they offered me so that was very special for me. My family grew up on Notre Dame, we're all Catholic and my dad has been a Notre Dame fan his whole life as well. He was just as excited for me as I was. Right now, I'm still excited about it. I'm really looking forward to getting out there and I'm going to try and make an impact right away.
"I'm not one of those guys that is just going to be satisfied with just being there. I want to play and I know it's hard to play as a true freshman but that's my goal."
