Grass Valley (Calif.) Nevada Union offensive lineman Taylor Dever took his long awaited official visit to Notre Dame this past weekend. The trip was worth the wait for Dever as he raved about his time in South Bend.
Dever, 6-6, 290 pounds is one of the best stories in the country this year. Just a few months ago, the lineman was flying way below the radar and was sitting on offers from UNLV and Fresno State.
Fast forward a few months later and Dever has offers from just about everyone in the Pac 10 plus national heavyweights like Notre Dame and Miami. The athlete visited South Bend this past weekend and had nothing but positive things to say.

"It's a pretty amazing place there," Dever said. "It was actually nice to finally get out there after having the visit pushed back a week earlier. I flew out there Thursday night and met up with Coach Weis Friday morning because he had to leave campus early for the Heisman presentation.
"After talking with Coach Weis, we watched the team practice and I spent some time with the strength and conditioning coach and listened to how they do things there. Then we went out to dinner wit the team and I met up with my host, Will Yeatman.
"It was finals week so there wasn't really a lot going on but that was fine. It was good to just hang out with the lineman and the other players on the team. Those guys were hilarious and you could feel the family atmosphere among all the guys on the team, it's a tight knit group.
"Saturday was the day we did all the tours. We toured the campus, the stadium and the athletic complex. When I saw the Golden Dome and all the other things at Notre Dame, it really hit me that I was actually at Notre Dame. It's an amazing place and there is so much history.
"Going in to the visit, I told myself I wasn't going to commit because I didn't want to do anything on emotion. I wanted to come home and just take a step back from everything and that's what I'm doing now.
"Right now, I have a trip set for Nebraska for this weekend and I'm still planning to take it. Coach Polian from Notre Dame will be coming over on Thursday and then I'll leave the next day for Nebraska. I may take January visits to Oregon and Oregon State too but there is also a chance I could use the time during the dead period and see if I'm ready to make a decision.
"I've already been to Washington and had home visits with Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, Miami and Washington State. Washington came to the school and is trying to set up a home visit as well. I'm just going to take things day by day right now. I'll take this visit and then will start to narrow things down and decide if I'm ready to end the process and commit somewhere."
