Detroit Cass Technical School has a total of six prospects in their 2012 class boasting Division 1 scholarship offers. One of those with several offers in hand is 6-0, 195-pound safety prospect Brandon Berry.
"I have four right now from Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Cincinnati and the University of Buffalo," Berry reported. "I keep up a lot with Western, Eastern and Buffalo. I haven't really been hearing from Cincinnati, so I don't know there."
Besides those that have offered, Berry is also hearing regularly from BCS Conference schools like Iowa, Indiana, South Florida and Vanderbilt. He has already started checking out campuses of those schools recruiting him.
"I have visited schools, but I didn't go to many school camps," Berry said. "I went to Toledo, I visited Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Cincinnati. I liked all of them, actually, but I still have a few more visits. I still have to go down to Buffalo next month and I might go down to Connecticut because they are recruiting me and maybe South Florida."
Berry does not list any favorites among the schools recruiting him, and he has no set timeline for making his college selection. Several of his teammates are planning to announce their commitments following Cass Tech's first game on Aug. 27, but Berry has not decided whether he will be in that group.
"I'm thinking about it, but I don't really know," he said. "I'm not going to rush it and I don't have time to be decommitting from schools."
As a junior, Berry primarily lined up at linebacker and tallied 75 tackles, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries, including one he returned for a touchdown.
