Destrehan RB gets plenty of interest

Destrehan, La., running back Jerico Nelson is just one of several 2008 prospects at his high school this year.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder rushed for 1,069 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. Destrehan coach Stephen Robicheaux says that Nelson has the ability to be both a power back and a speedy runner. Recruiting is also starting rather quickly for Nelson and there may be a few potential offers on the way.

"It's going well," Robicheaux said. "Louisiana Tech has said they're planning to offer Nelson and then Ole Miss, Miami has showed some interest, and LSU has shown some interest as well. I know Miami made a big push for a while.
"But, he's not in any rush. We're just going to see how things play out."
Robicheaux describes Nelson as a guy who is a combination of some previous running backs that came through Destrehan.
"He's a strong kid with great vision and he's probably one of the better true running backs that we've had here in a long time," Robicheaux said. "He's kind of a combination of a power back and a slash back. I believe Jerico has a little bit of both>
Robicheaux says that his running back hasn't attended any junior days and doesn't know of any future plans of unofficial visits at this time.
Other prospects at Destrehan include wide receiver Tim Molton and quarterback Jordan Jefferson.
