Despite new offers, Clemson leads for CB

Cornerback Crezdon Butler out of Asheville, N.C. has picked up three new offers in the past couple of weeks from the ACC and SEC. Who did the 6-foot-0, 180-pounder get offers from?
Butler recently picked up offers from Arkansas, Virginia and Maryland.

"Arkansas offered me and it was a shock," he said. "They really haven't been recruiting me and I hadn't even gotten a letter from them. I haven't really gotten a chance to look at them yet."
What about the offers from the two ACC schools?
"Last week I got offers from Virginia and Maryland," he said. "I knew the Virginia offer was coming, but I was surprised to still get it. They have a good football program and the coaches are nice when I went down there.
"The Maryland offer was also a surprise. I got a couple letters from them, but I didn't know it would lead up to an offer. They were sending me more letters about the school and not football, so it was a shocker."
Currently, Butler's favorite is Clemson.
"I like them because of their engineering program," he said. "I'm majoring in that, so I'm looking for the engineering program and then football. Clemson is just a great football school, the fans love you and it's just a good school. I talk to Billy Napier a lot more than coach Bowden, so I've got to know the other coaches more. I talk to him every week about ordinary stuff and the school; I'd say I have a pretty solid relationship with him as a coach. I would say Clemson is number one on my list right now."
As for a decision, Butler could decide as early as this summer.
"It would probably be later on during the summer," he said. "It would be good to do before the season starts, so I know where I'm going next year. That's not a guarantee though."
This spring Butler plans to attend one of the Shrine Bowl combines. Right now, the cornerback is running track in preparation for the event.
"Track is going pretty good, we just won the county meet and I won the 100 and 4x100," he said. "My speed has increased over the past few weeks and I think that'll carry on over to the football season.
This summer the only camp scheduled for Butler right now is a team camp.
Last season Butler ran for 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns, he also threw for 700 yards and five touchdowns as he was named first team all-conference athlete.
